Samuel & Ashly Burr USA

The Burrs are a husband and wife fine artist duo. Born in Texas and California, they now reside in Madrid, Spain. They tell us:

‘We desire to interrupt the speed and chaos of modern life by creating contemplative, restful spaces through our work. Dreamlike nostalgia and thoughtful emotion are common threads in our collaborative paintings, whether that fills a room or the thoughts in one’s mind. While exploring the ideas, objects, concepts and structures that define HOME, we seek to impart a sense of wonder and solace with each piece we create.’

Aibek Nogorobekov Kyrgyzstan

According to his Mum, Aibek often skipped the playground to discover new crafts. He now tells us: I have been creating all of my life. I started sculpting at just 5 years old. Throughout my school years, I enjoyed dreaming, drawing and doodling in my textbooks. I discovered my love of painting (especially acrylic on canvas) as a young man. At first, I tried to model what I saw others doing but ‘. . .it wasn’t me’. My breakthrough came when I let go of others’ opinions and found the freedom of ‘. . .letting the brush blend my brain with being’.

Drew Cromwell United Kingdom

I was trained as an artist in London during the 1990s. Since then, I have had the privilege of working around the world in both art and interior design. I am now coming full circle back to my first love of art, with a passion for the wellbeing of the human soul (intellect, will and emotions). I believe that art in its purity should both reflect and facilitate this as a process. The potential is always there for a well-placed piece of art (whether public or private) to uplift the mood of a room or public space. When captured in the heart of the viewer, s/he can become a conduit of creativity- like a butterfly, taking life, light and colour from one place to another.

Esther Caesar Ghana

"Art indeed, is life". I am an Accra-based, Ghanaian eco-green, contemporary Artist and Entrepreneur. My wider interests and expertise span: Poetry, Narrative, Digital Art, Painting, Sculpture, Creative Education and Architecture.

I see the potential for life and art in any mix of objects and ideas that I encounter. Intuitively, I analyze and interpret these in a myriad of ways, by upcycling and recycling: Pigment and Dry Waste - Plastic, Wood, Glass and Metal. My work reflects life’s essence and promotes the preservation of life. This inspiration and insight from the healing strength of: colours, thoughts and poems, blend with a touch of the environment. It becomes a creative, visual link with colour psychology, impacting our minds, human nature, the Earth, its systems and cultures.

I am now working on a project inspired by the tragic loss of my two sisters and my Mom. After deep depression, I am on a ‘comeback’, and have vowed to use my art to help uplift the spirits and lives of individuals and families. My aim is to keep happiness in fellowship and also, to support the less privileged however I can.

‘I have always wanted to discover my purpose - the reason why I am on Earth. I create art with the sole aim of expressing my Christian faith through photographs and pencil drawings. It is born out of the zeal to capture reality, deep-rooted emotions, and the inward nature of human beings. In order to tell stories about people and their experiences with images, I draw inspiration from what I see in people around me, how that relates to Biblical scripture, and what lessons can be learned. You can only say so much with words, I realized that the best way for me to talk to people about God was through my art. Therefore, each piece is designed as a message for the viewer and to help them to understand more about themselves and about their Maker’.

Rudi Robinson South Africa

Rudi lives somewhere on the coast of South Africa and prefers to remain ‘nebulous’. In terms of comments for a profile, he simply states: ‘ . . . I’m not really a writer. I’m more of a painter.’ We like to think that his artistic mastery speaks for itself.
